One day not so long ago, in a basement located in West Michigan, Christina Cooper, a licensed therapist and artist, looked around at the mess she made after hours of sewing. All the scraps that were sitting there destined for the garbage can gave Christina an epiphany. "This can't be good. I wish there was a productive way to use this waste." Playing around with stitched, cut, or loose ends, Christina made a small stuffed animal which looked a little homely (to keep things nice). It became her sewing mascot. She placed the little guy next to her sewing machine and found herself talking to it when she was bored. After time, she made a few more and Christina noticed that every time a new one was made her friends and family would smile, laugh at it, and asked if they could have it.

Soon, they became a hit at the craft shows. Many people were appreciative of the thought that these Monsterz were built out of scraps and that they would have been piles of refuse but instead made into little friends. There are similar "ugly monsters" on the shelves, but these guys are different. Mizfit Monsterz are solely made out of scrap materials, so no two Monsterz are EVER the same. 

Why the z's in Mizfit Monsterz? Two very different reasons. Reason 1, is that there are books and games out there labeled as 'Misfit Monsters'. Christina didn't want to bring any confusion. Reason 2, Christina is a narcoleptic. She thought the Z's were suitable as often Z's depict tiredness. This is just a small way she can bring awareness to different types of disabilities that often get overlooked. Christina has a tribe of "Sleepy Monsterz". 

The idea of Tribes come from the fact that no two Monsterz are the same. So, Christina thought it would be fun to allow people to be able to see what their Monsterz were up to when their human pals are sleeping. Similar, in a sense, to tracking whales or other animals. Instead of doing so individually, Monsterz enjoy spending time in their tribes. Each person can check in to see what their tribe has been doing and what is going on with them. 

Every person that saves a Monster is helping to save waste. Each Monster comes with a certificate of authenticity and a record of its name, birth date, tribe name, password to their tribe's page, and then some identifiable markers and personality traits. A human friend can check back in with the website and watch their tribes. They should pay close attention because there will be some games and activities that the Monsterz get into. Humans can keep their cards to know where their own personal Monster stands. Random games of tug-o-war and hide and seek are not unusual. Compare your stats with your friends' monsterz to see what happens in the games. The activities vary for ages. Some activities are for a bit older humans, while others are for younger humans. There are enough activities between their tribes activities and the extra activities for everyone.

The cards show love, energy, and fun levels. All Mizfit Monsterz have love, energy, and fun. A low love score doesn't mean the Monster doesn't love its human. It means it doesn't like the squeezes and cuddles as much as it does laughing and playing. Keep in mind, at the end of the day every Monster appreciates their human for keeping them instead of throwing them out with the garbage. These humans are their heroes. 

Thank you for saving the earth and making friends.  Remember, Mizfit Monsterz are made of upcycled fabrics, threads, etc. Some have random stitching, different colored threading and things like that. This becomes their unique characteristics while helping the environment. They are each perfectly imperfect and that's what makes them special. 

Because all Mizfit Monsterz are different, when ordering there is no way to know which Monster you will receive, though you can choose your tribe. Remember no two Monsterz are ever the same!
